Founded in 1931, Azienda Trasporti Milanesi is a Public Limited Company owned by the Milan Municipality. We manage public transport in the Lombard capital and in 46 provincial towns, serving an area with a population of 2.5 million people.

Over the years, the services provided by our company have multiplied, both in the transport sector and in the commercial and leisure sectors. Today ATM is a company which designs and manages services and hi-tech systems for sustainable transport.

Our Services

ATM’s services comprise four types of transport:

• underground railway
• bus
• tram
• trolley bus

The surface transport network covers the whole city of Milan, the towns of the greater Milan area and part of the province of Milan.

Both these transport networks are integrated with the Trenord rail networks, thus completing an intermodal transport system allowing our customers to move around easily using public transport.

Other ATM services include the light railway linking the San Raffaele Hospital with the line 2 underground station at Cascina Gobba; the Como-Brunate funicular railway; the BikeMi bike sharing services.

ATM also manages 22 interchange car parks and payment systems in Milan.
We are also a commercial operator selling advertising space, renting commercial properties and company offices and a leisure operator, offering tourism and vehicle rental services as well as the ATMosfera restaurant-tram.

ATM also operates abroad: since 1st January 2008 the Group, through its subsidiary Metro Service, has operated Copenhagen automated underground.
