This page contains regulations and advice for travelling correctly and safely with ATM

Surface vehicles

  • Please give way to descending passengers before attempting to board the vehicle: you will avoid bumping into other people or blocking the doors and allow the vehicle to depart immediately.
  • When boarding or descending from vehicles, please mind the gap between the vehicle and the pavement. If you are travelling with children who are not in a pram or pushchair always hold them by the hand.
  • When boarding or descending from vehicles with steps, please take your time and hold firmly onto the handrail to avoid losing your balance. Make sure that any children accompanying you do the same.
  • After boarding a vehicle, remember to stamp your ticket or season ticket. We remind you that all tickets must be stamped at the beginning of each journey and every time you change vehicle: paper tickets should be inserted into the stamping machines on board vehicles. Cards should be swiped on the card readers next to the stamping machines.
  • Passengers standing inside vehicles should hold firmly onto the handles, poles or railings. Ensure that any children travelling with you do the same. Failure to hold onto supports is dangerous and may lead to falls.
  • Please do not occupy the space reserved for wheelchairs.
  • Please give up your seat to pregnant women and the elderly.
  • Do not distract the driver: the safety of your journey depends on their concentration.
  • Do not lean out of doors and windows: doing so may cause serious injury.
  • Do not throw anything into the road: doing so may cause damage to objects or people and pollutes the city.
  • Do not leave newspapers on board vehicles. After descending from the vehicle please throw any newspapers into the paper recycling bins provided.
  • Remember to book your stop by pressing the red stop button: this will ensure that the bus stops where you want.

Travelling with prams and pushchairs

  • On buses, trolley buses and trams with step-free access prams and pushchairs should be parked in the space reserved for wheelchairs unless these are occupied; disabled passengers have priority access to this space.
  • If the space is available, prams and pushchairs should be positioned facing against the direction of travel, resting against the back of the area and with their brakes on; please ensure that prams and pushchairs are held in place with the safety belt.
  • If the space is unavailable, prams and pushchairs must be folded up and children carried or held by the hand.
  • On buses, trolley buses and trams with steps, which do not have spaces reserved for wheelchairs, prams and pushchairs must be folded up and children carried or held by the hand.

On the underground

  • When walking up or down the stairs always hold firmly onto the handrail to avoid losing your balance. Please ensure that any children with you do the same.
  • Please keep to the right on all escalators.
  • Not all stations are equipped with lifts. If you do need to use a lift, we suggest you call the Infoline02.48.607.607 to check lift availability at your departure and arrival stations and ensure that these are working normally. Please ensure that you respect the weight limit and do not use the alarm system except in emergencies.
  • On reaching the ticket barriers remember to stamp your ticket or season ticket. We remind you that tickets must always be stamped at the beginning of each journey and every time you change vehicles: on the underground paper tickets should be inserted into the stamping machines at the ticket barriers; cards should be swiped on the card readers next to the stamping machines.
  • If you are travelling with children entitled to free transport please stamp your ticket at the ticket barrier next to the Station Operator’s booth; when the barrier has opened fully enter with the children.
  • Please pay attention to any announcements and displays inside the station: these provide useful travel information.
  • Do not throw litter onto the floor or the track. Paper which comes into contact with the track may catch fire and cause a fire hazard. Please throw any newspapers into the bins provided: you will help us to keep underground stations clean and contribute to paper recycling.
  • Await the train behind the yellow safety line. Keep any children travelling with you close by.
  • Please give way to descending passengers before attempting to board the train: you will avoid bumping into other passengers or blocking the doors and allow the train to depart immediately.
  • When boarding or descending from trains please mind the gap between train and platform. If you are travelling with children not in prams or pushchairs always hold them by the hand.
  • When standing on board trains hold firmly onto the poles or railings. Ensure that any children travelling with you do the same. Failure to hold on to the supports provided is dangerous and may lead to falls.
  • Please give up your seat to pregnant women and the elderly.
  • Do not occupy the space reserved for wheelchairs.
  • Do not lean out of doors or windows: doing so may cause serious injury.
