You don’t need totems anymore, if you buy the pass the day before you travel 

The pass on your travel card can be activated directly to the readers on board ATM lines and at the turnstiles in the metro: all you have to do is to buy the pass at least one day before you travel.

Are totems still needed to activate the travel card?

You don’t need totems anymore if you top up your pass in advance, at least the day before you travel. Use totems only if you need to travel on the same day the pass is bought.

On which readers do travel passes can be activated?

• to the readers in the metro
• to readers on board all ATM trams, buses and trolleybuses
• to reader on board subcontracted lines 201, 220, 222, 230, 328, 423, 424, 431, 433, 528, 542, 560, 561, 566, 965, SMARTBUS, 166

Reminder. Which passes should I activate before traveling?

All passes you buy from the ATM app and the website must be activated. Passes purchased at retailers or automatic vending machines are ready to travel and don’t need to be activated.

Digital subscriptions? No need to activate them

If you have a digital pass on the app and travel only with your phone, the subscription is ready for travel immediately.

Question 1. I always top up my travel card before some days before the beginning of the month. What changes for me?

Your life gets easier, because you don’t need totems anymore. The pass is automatically activated on the first trip, directly at the turnstiles in the metro and at the readers on board ATM trams, buses and trolleybuses.

Question 2. I often top up my travel card at the first day of the month. What changes for me?

Nothing. If you need the pass the same day of the purchase, you have to go to the totems to make it activated. From the next day, however, the totem is no longer needed: the pass will automatically be activated at the turnstiles in the metro or on board ATM trams, buses and trolleybuses. That's why we suggest you top up your pass at least the day before you travel.

Question 3. I always recharge from the app or the ATM site, but my journey always starts on a non-ATM line. What changes for me?

• If you top up on the same day you travel, the pass must be activated as always at a totem in the metro
• If you top up at least the day before you travel, you can activate your pass at a turnstile in the metro ATM trams, buses and trolleybuses
