How to get around Milan by public transport 

Milan’s public transport network makes it easy to travel around the city and beyond.

An iconic map for the City of Design

Travel with a credit card

In Milan you can enter the metro and board buses, trams, and trolleybuses with credit cards, debit cards, smartphones, or smartwatches.

Tickets to buy to travel in and around Milan 

  • 2.20€ ticket. Valid for 90 minutes
  • Daily ticket. Valid for 24 hours, 7.60€
  • 3-day ticket. Price: 15.50€. Valid for 3 consecutive days from the first validation, until the end of the service on the third day.
  • 10-trip ticket (carnet). Price: 19.50€. Each ticket cannot be used by more than one person at the same time.

These tickets (Mi1-Mi3 fare zones) are valid on metro, bus, tram, trolleybus services, and S lines (rail services) operated by Trenord.

Where to buy tickets

Tickets can be purchased from the automatic machines located in all metro stations or at any authorised resellers (find here the list). You can also buy a ticket via ATM official app (read here how to validate it) or sending an SMS to 48444. 

To the city centre from Linate airport by metro line M4

The new metro line M4 connects the city centre with Linate airport.

How to reach Rho Exhibition Centre

  • Rho Fieramilano terminal station (metro line M1– red line)
  • Rho Fiera railway station (S5, S6 or S11)
  • Either way, the Mi1-Mi3 fare is valid (2.20€ ticket)
  • Please note: If you have an urban travel pass, a 1.70€ integration is needed. You can load it on your electronic card at the automatic machines located in all metro stations or at any authorised resellers. Check all the extra fares

How to reach the Unipol Forum

  • Assago Forum terminal station (metro line M2 – green line)
  • The Mi1-Mi3 fare is valid (2.20€ ticket)
  • Please note: If you have an urban travel pass, a 1.70€ integration is needed (see above for details on how to load the card)

How to reach Milan Convention Centre (MiCo) 

  • Portello (metro line M5 – lilac line)
  • Vigliani-Scarampo and Arduino bike-sharing stations. BikeMi station map.

How to reach San Siro stadium

  • Lotto (interchange station between metro lines M1 (red line) and M5 (lilac line)
  • San Siro Stadio terminal station (metro line M5 – lilac line).

Night buses

Did you miss the last metro ride? Don’t worry! A night service is operated by buses during the night hours within Milan urban area (download the map). A Mi1-Mi3 ticket is required to get on board (standard 2.20€ ticket, daily pass, carnet, etc.).
